It’s a wonderfully imaginative, fast-paced adventure packed with danger, villains, madcap situations and plenty of pineapple-themed fun.Will is a great character to root for, and the whole story has that larger-than-life sense of adventure that makes it especially enjoyable for children. The Black Rainbow is a fantastic, memorable threat, and Kazamir Kirrolivitch makes for a deliciously sinister mastermind.A really fun, exciting read that young readers are sure to love.

It is a adventure portal story full of twists and turns that kept me on my toes and wanting to read more. If you have not read this story then I feel sorry that you have never experienced such beauty.Will Worthington and The Black Rainbow is one of my favourite books. I personally love the false identity (if you want to know more then there's only one good option, read the book) and the intrigue. The villain Kazamir was enthralling because I felt like I understood his motivations and he felt very real to me.The one negative thing I have to say is that it feels like there is backstory that I am missing out on. However, I also kind of love this. I JUST WANT TO READ MORE! Waiting eagerly for Book 2.Overall I love this story. It has captured my heart and I can't wait for more. I highly recommend this book; it is something you DON'T want to miss out on. I would rate this book FIVE STARS!!"

Quirky fun read I pre-orderd my copy of this book as soon as it was announced. From the small snippets I had heard online while the book was being written, I knew I was in for a magical adventure- and I was right!It's the perfect book for young readers and I can't wait to read it with my friend's son. Quirky, fun and original the author has a distinctive style and voice that I hear through her work, and it makes it a very easy read. I can't wait for the next one!Also love the texture of the book cover, it's got this silky matt texture to it that I just love, and the layout of the writing inside is lovely and makes it a good gift option as it's just a really special book ☺️

Exciting Book! A Must Read! I really enjoyed this book! Love the way each character is unique and they are all so vivid! Rachel obviously put a lot of time and thought into each of them. After hearing about Will for so long and getting snippets from the author, I was excited to read it of course, but she exceeded my expectations!This was a faced-paced, exciting, mysterious, scientific adventure loaded with tangible motives, thoughtful dialogue, fantastic humor, and lots and LOTS of pineapples!And the villians actually have real personalities and motivations -- which is not always the case with villians. After all, how does one make sure a villian is dispicable AND understandable? This author obviously has the answer to that.Yes, it is a middle-grade book, but as an adult, I still really enjoyed it! It has mystery, adventure, friendship, and morals. And I loved finding the little "snippets of Rachel," aka, the things that I know are "her" more than "Will." But that's what happens when one creates characters and I personally, am here for it.Will Worthington and the Black Rainbow was so much fun, and I can't wait to read the next book! Definitely give it a try -- you won't be disappointed! And get an extra copy for a young reader in you life; it would make an excellent Christmas gift!

Fun fantasy middle grade I enjoyed reading this book and found it a page turner from the start. Written in 45 shortish chapters over 250 pages this is a well structured middle grade story with good pace. This is Rachel Brooker's first children's book and she has crafted a well-written and intriguing story. The plot moves at a good pace with plenty of action and cliff hanger moments at the end of chapters. I loved the beginning where the reader is drawn straight into Will the main character's dilemma of being separated from his school group and transported into the world of Austassa. This world and the scenes in it are vivid and unique. The main character is great - well developed and believable and you'll definitely be routing for him. The villain is delightfully and crazily dangerous. Will he succeed in stopping Will in his mission? There is a lovely upbeat tone and humour to the writing too which does not detract from the main character's dilemma and perilous task (to destroy the Black Rainbow).There are plenty of surprises and twists along the way, and some intriguing connections and links between the different characters. I liked the way the story explores themes of determination and friendship. An easy-to-get-into and entertaining book for fans of stories that combine mystery, fantasy worlds and good versus evil. Containing ingredients of a good children's book Will Worthington and the Black Rainbow is great for fans of Harry Potter and other fantasy/magical adventures.

Potter fans will love this! This is a great fun read for anyone, 9yrs to 99yrs old. Good plot, twists, well written. Would be a great stocking filler too.
