I don’t know about you, but when I hit the 31st December, it’s like my mind automatically goes, “Soon, or now, you must fix your room again, properly. I’m talking the whole works, cleaning, dusting, culling, you name it.”
Now? It’s the 2nd of January, and I’ve already managed to finish about 5 percent of what needs doing. I’m taking it step by step. The old me (the less organised, illogical Rachel) would be feeling frustrated by now. I would have started pulling books off shelves, and then I would have seen something from my past. An hour later, I’d be there still, having accomplished next-to-nothing.
Today, I have tackled all my bookshelves; and boy, have I done a major, ruthless rummage. There are titles I hardly looked at. They’re going to the charity shop. There are a few books that I just can’t be bothered to have on the shelf, as I don’t feel anything towards them, and then, there are the prize jewels: Darren Shan’s ‘Cirque de Freak’ series, Anthony Horowitz’s ‘Alex Riders,’ ‘Harry Potter’, and the has to be mentioned, Simon Mayo’s must-also-turn-into-a-classic ‘Itch’ trilogy.
To this day? No author has matched Horowitz, Rowling, Shan, or Mayo’s level!
As for my room? Well, attempting to sort a section a day is the best way forward. That way, I won’t become inundated by negativity. During my redecorating, I will be posting my progress.
What about you? Are you re-sorting your room, or maybe just thinking about what you could do in the future, re-thinking other spots in the house? Which decor would you pick? Why? I’d love to know!
In the next post, I’m going to list my resolutions and reflections on the past year, before coming back to the room updates.
Hope you’re still enjoying the blog.
